Expercom sent a press release on their Solid State Drive (SSD) options for MacBook/MacBook Pros available as options for new system orders (adds $550 for 60GB SSD, $850 for 120GB SSD) or as an upgrade service where you send in your MacBook or MacBook Pro for the SSD drive install of a 60GB SSD for $599 or a 120GB SSD for $899. The bottom of the first page linked has benchmark results of the 120GB SSD vs a 250GB/5400rpm notebook drive showing much better random read performance, slightly better sequential read although 57.77% lower sequential write rates. The SSD drive however is much more rugged (no moving parts) and uses less power than a conventional hard drive. (If you missed it, earlier this month Oliver sent a Performance Comparison of 32GB SSD vs 1TB SATA HDs in his Mac Pro as well as a Mac Pro SSD install guide.)
