Source : FortuneImportGenius, a firm that collects "competitive intelligence" by monitoring U.S. Customs records of ocean containers entering American ports, has an intriguing report about some 188 containers shipped to Apple since March. The containters were labeled "electric computers", which is a label never used by Apple before.
The initial shipments were followed: on March 27, April 28, May 6 and May 17 with an additional 44 containers - each containing an estimated 40,000 units of the new phone. The sixteen containers imported by Apple Inc. itself - as opposed to the Quanta subsidiary - were delivered on March 19 and 27 to the Jonestown, Pa. facilities of Ingram Micro, Apple's U.S. distribution partner.Estimates are that each container can hold about 40,000 units of the new iPhone, which totals to about 8 million 3G iPhones shipped so far - remember that Apple had sold 'only' about 4 million first-gen iPhones in January.
These containers are said to origin from Hon Hai and Quanta, both long-time Asian Apple manufacturers.
Hon Hai has already assembled Apple's first-gen iPhones, and may thus be shipping the second generation of iPhones too.
Quanta, on the other side, could be manufacturing the mysterious Mac-Tablet.
