To speed your computing experience on OS 9, make sure you don't start using the machine's virtual memory. Virtual memory in OS 9 can really slow down your machine, almost to the point where you think something has gone terribly wrong. How can you avoid using virtual memory? Run only one program at a time, and it will almost never be a problem. If you think you might be using virtual memory, select About This Computer from the Apple menu, and check the Largest Unused Block.
