Featuring a substantial upgrade in power, this latest model sports two of Intel's new 45 nanometer Quad-Core Xeon processors in its standard configuration, or as Apple likes to put it, it's an 8-core processor machine.Also featuring a faster architecture, the new Mac Pro comes with dual-independent 1600MHz front side buses and supports up to 32GB of 800MHz DDR2 ECC FB-DIMM memory, which Apple claims gives it a 61% boost in memory throughput compared to previous models.The graphics front has also seen some changes. Now using a PCI-E 2.0 GPU slot, new Mac Pros come with the ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT 256MB graphics card standard, with the option to upgrade to the Nvidia 8800GT 512MB card or Quadro FX 5600 1.5GB card. In addition, the Mac Pro supports up to four video cards, allowing it to drive up to eight 30-inch displays.Rounding out the new desktop is its improved storage capacity, which allows for up to 4TB of storage space via four 1TB SATA drives.The standard configuration, which includes two 2.8GHz Quad Cores, 2GB RAM, and the ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT is currently retailing at $2799. BTO options are also available, including opting for a single Quad Core processor or ramping it up to two 3.2GHz Quad Cores.Apple - Mac Pro
