Per two Apple docs on 10.5 scanner problems with USB CanoScan scanners and AIOs today, the fix is to download updated drivers/apps from Canon's support website. Per my searches for updates for my older model (N656U) model, only some models are supported in 10.5. See post for links/info. Updated with a reader's reply that although not on the officially supported scanner models list for 10.5, his LiDE 30 works fine in Leopard with both his (PPC) PB and Macbook pro.
