SATA DVD Burner with PCI SATA card (not working w/Firmtek, but was with SIL card) |

I previously had a reader say his SATA DVD burner didn't work properly connected to a PCI SATA card (which of course worked fine for SATA hard drives, but not ATAPI/Optical drives) Mac Pro owners have reported in the drive compat. database here that SATA burners -did work- using the 2 extra motherboard SATA connectors in the Mac Pro. Here's another mail from a reader that also saw problems with a firmtek SATA card and "SATA" DVD burner (which may be just a PATA drive with SATA adapter) so he used a workaround. (Although I'd prefer to not split the 2 drive RAID across the onboard and PCI card) Updated with a note from a reader on a working but non-bootable card...
