I first became interested in music in the 70’s moving through Glam-Rock into Disco and Soul in the twist of a platform shoe and high waister trousers. Somewhere along the line I took the time to fall into 60’s music and heavy rock. About the time Punk was born I picked the bass guitar up and so my musical career started and stalled... Pretty much the same as it is now.

Since I don’t listen to enough new iComp music with the frequency I’d like, I can’t really make a grocery list of new songs that I’ve heard and plug them in the way that most of the CO’s are done. Instead, I have decided to focus on five artists that I believe aren’t getting the exposure they deserve for the talent they have brought to this community.

This classical column has a lot of new-comers to the site and I would like to say welcome. We also have a lot of familiar faces too, but not necessarily for classical. So be prepared for some great music and make sure you have some time. These selections will take some time to listen to, so let’s get right to it!

Apple has released GarageBand 4.1.1, a blogger says that 2008 is the year for a GarageBand user to win a Grammy, and January 6th is iCompositions' 4th birthday.

So...one beautiful day, Julian asked if I could write something for the famous Criminally Overlooked pages. And, on that beautiful sunny day, I said "yes." And now here I am trying to figure out how to do it properly. The focus of these columns seems really important to me. Giving light to some gems that passed away too soon, too quickly...and some forgotten ones. There's a deep, cruel injustice going on with the amount of uploads everyday on Icomp...and that's one of the best ways (with browsing endlessly through the artists pages) to repair it, maybe.

I wondered for a long time how I should introduce this article…talk is cheap, music is timeless, so let’s dive right in.

It's been so long since I've written a column, and I have missed it. But you know, life is what it is and sometimes writing this column, which I love has to take a back seat to life's other priorities. What I do discover is that when I don't write or read the column as my guest contributors have done a most excellent job of sharing their music loves with you -- I really miss listening and writing. So this week I am keeping it short and sweet. Well maybe not too short , but I am trying to focus on a few artists at a time and not to overload the reader and listener with too many as I have done in the past. But as you can tell from the length of this one, I have failed miserably!

From drunken, swaggering, Mediterranean Folk to a Lounge-Rock version of a Britney Spears song, the following selections are all stand out works of art. These artists are being recognized for their originality and specifically (but not only) for the songs listed here. Each tune has its own unique feel and style and all succeed in swaying the listener’s thoughts and emotions.

The blues is a form of expression that takes different shapes and forms but will always allow the artists to express their deepest feelings. It is music that comes from the heart and beyond.

In my exploring on iComp, I've run across some incredibly motivated and talented young artists. They are the next generation of writers, performers, producers, shakers and movers, Grammy winners, and your neighbor next door. Some of them aren't so overlooked, in any case, I want folks to know that these artists are teens and even younger.

GarageBand '08 reviews and "First Looks," Perimeter Sound Arts releases a new "best-of" loop collection, SoundTech announces new LightSnake USB MIDI Cable, and MacFixIt notices that you can't play 24-bit GarageBand AIFFs on your iPod.

There is always someone doing something new, interesting, comical, or just plain insane on iCompositions. One great thing about iComp is that is it filled with great music to inspire.

This site has so many hidden artists it's not funny. Take a chance on some of these guys and you will be amazed how much talent lies beneath the top 30. Go on you know you wanna!

It’s been tough trying to get my act together to do these things on a weekly, or even bi-weekly basis, but I do sincerely thank you for your patience and the time you’ve taken to reading my awfully subjective opinions on the music of some of the artists here.

Though Steve Jobs neglected to mention the existence of a new Jam Pack at Apple's Special Event on Tuesday, the latest addition to the Jam Pack family made its way onto Apple's GarageBand information page with a few details. However, we feel that the information provided before purchase is incomplete so, as we have with past Jam Packs, iCompositions has purchased a copy of GarageBand Jam Pack: Voices and audited its loop and software instrument contents.

At a special media event held at Apple's Cupertino campus, Steve Jobs took the wraps off the much-anticipated iLife '08. Among updates to iMovie, iDVD, iPhoto, and iWeb is a relatively minor GarageBand upgrade.

Hi guys I’m back again to tell you about some more good heavy tracks. Last time I talked about the ones that brought me here and hooked me now I want to talk about some that I’ve found since I moved in. Also added some ones in I and a few others have missed.. so we all get some good good new stuff to enjoy..

I was asked by Julian to write one of these columns many months ago. The other guys who have posted for this column have pointed out some really good criminally overlooked artists. Heck, I’ve even been mentioned about 3 times myself, which probably means I’m not criminally over-looked, more like, justifiably overlooked?

I found some really unique gems this time. There is a lot of piano in this one so if you don't like piano, well, to bad. I'm personally, not a huge fan of the instrument itself but I do appreciate good work when I hear it. There is a lot of music in this one today so you can get your classical fix.
